This Sekonda pocket watch is in great condition, and comes complete with the original ‘snake effect’ chain and button hole.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

The manual winding 2609H movement was in production for many years, but we have found adverts for this type of pocket watch being sold in the UK between 1981 and 1989.  We feel comfortable saying this is circa 1985.

CONDITION

The watch is difficult to fault.  It is like it left the Raketa factory, with just the lightest of surface scratches from being in storage.  The USSR Sekonda’s are far better than the post 1991 models, and were designed to last.  The smooth, snake effect chain is just 2.5 mm thick and designed not to snag on clothes.

This is much slimmer than most mechanical pocket watches, which makes it more comfortable to wear.  Always popular at weddings, pocket watches have been making a bit of a comeback of late.

Please see the HD video below for more detail.

SIZE

Approximately 40 mm wide excluding the unsigned crown, 9.9 mm thick.  The smooth snake effect chain is 185 mm long.
