This JDM (Japanese domestic market) Rado has a snowflake textured dial similar to a Grand Seiko. Model reference 121.9029.2
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
This was produced by Sakata of Tokyo, Japan, under license of Rado Switzerland. This is why on the dial under 6 it says RADO WATCH instead of SWISS MADE. Unfortunately Rado have confirmed they no longer have the production dates of these watches, but based on the styling and movement production dates it is likely this was made circa 1985.
CONDITION
The dial is the immediate selling point for this watch, but you should not overlook the other details. The original bracelet is beautifully made, and has alternate links of polished and textured finishes. The clasp is signed with Rado and the model number, as on the case back, so we know it is original to this watch. The case does have some marks, most noticeably at the bottom left corner. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The bezel is textured too, but it is the dial that really captivates. The dial is best shown in the video to see how the light bounces off it, and we also compare to a Grand Seiko in the video. The crown has a blue stone, cabochon polished set into it and the stone is not chipped or cracked. The 956.032 ETA 7 jewel Swiss movement is all working properly, and we will fit a new battery to it before sending this out.
