HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
With the serial numbers for Universal Geneve not being able to be used after 1967 to date the watches, we have to turn to other sources. The movement in this watch was also used in some Tissot watches between 1982 and 1987, so we have picked a mid point year. This also perfectly fits the style of the watch too.
CONDITION
Slim, rectangular gold plated quartz watches were all the rage in the early 1980’s, and this is a very typical watch of the period. The bonus here is the condition. The case shows little to no wear, and the original strap is very similar. The gold plated buckle – a high wear position – is likewise excellent. The movement is signed UG, but is an ETA seven jewel set and forget quartz with quick set date. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The dial has a slight curve to it where a round movement sits in a square case. The leather strap is the original, signed Universal Geneve item, complete with signed buckle. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, buckle and strap.
