HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Sadly the paperwork for this watch was not completed when it was originally sold. However the movement was made between 1979 and 1986, and given the styling we think this watch was made circa 1984
CONDITION
Raymond Weil at this period got their styling absolutely on trend for the time, and this is no exception. The larger than average case has articulated or hinged lugs, so it fits around the wrist comfortably. The dimensions are not dissimilar to the Cartier Santos models of the time. Square cases always wear larger than the diameter suggests, simply because they cover more of the wrist. The case is 18k gold electroplated front and rear, and shows little wear. The glass has no chips to the edge but one or two small scratches, and the dial and hands are excellent. The ESA/ETA movement is calibre 956.031, which was also used by many other brands (Mido, Wittnauer and Baume & Mercier, as well as IWC Cal. 2249) and it is running well. We will fit a new battery before sending this out. The original leather strap is worn, but nice to have still fitted as it shows the watch can not have been worn much. It still has the signed buckle too, but if you would prefer a new black leather strap then we could fit that for you, retaining the buckle of course.
