An unusual ladies Movado watch, with day and date, which still has the original presentation wallet. Model reference 87-06-825K
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The ETA 255 series movements were available from 1983 to the end of the eighties, and some watches used them for a little longer. 1983 was also significant for Movado, as they got new owners and a new watch reference system. While this model is not logged in their book, it using their new numbering system and this is only number 6 movement. This has to have been designed towards the beginning of the numbering system, so we have said circa 1984.
CONDITION
This watch was not in bad condition, but we have given it a light restoration. This involved cleaning the case, replacing the glass and replacing the leather strap so show the watch at it’s best. The dial did not need anything doing to it, and neither did the movement (although we will fit a new battery before sending the watch out). Movado were famous for their Calendar watches in the 1940’s and 1950’s, so while it is unusual to have a day date ladies watch it does make historical sense. The dial is a very deep black, unfaded, and has the Movado museum dot under twelve. The date can be quickset, and the day semi quickset. The watch did come with the original buckle, but at 12mm wide we do not have 16 mm lug strap with 12mm buckle end, so we will include the original buckle with the package but a new buckle is fitted to the watch to allow it to be worn immediately. It is a nice to find a ladies Movado still with the wallet, although the wallet has many cracks.
