HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
This model was introduced in 1984, and in 1985 Techniques d’Avant Garde (TAG) bought Heuer to make TAG Heuer. The Super Professional was one, if not the, last model launched by the Heuer family. The later watches all had TAG Heuer branding, so this must be an earlier one making it extremely collectible.
CONDITION
The Super Professional was a tool watch designed for professional divers with no compromise. Given that, and the expensive price when new, there are not many about. We have had one before, a later 1997 version, which lasted minutes before being snapped up. This Heuer only branded watch is just cooler than the TAG Heuer ones, and the one year only production makes them almost impossible to source. Add to that that this one has the original leather pouch, complete with some unused spare rubber straps (they are not branded but we have no reference to see if they are the same ones included new). The condition is also splendid for a tool watch – these were designed for hard lives remember. The one piece, sand blasted case has minimal marks, the 60 click unidirectional bezel turns crisply and the sapphire crystal has just fine scratches. Inside you will find a ETA 2824-2 automatic movement which is running well. The crown is unsigned, but the original crown is included and may have been swapped at a previous service to maintain water resistance. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required.
This watch will be supplied with the original presentation pouch, two unused spare straps, a Bergeon 6767F springbar tool, previous service history including a crown (signed with TAG Heuer logo, so may have been swapped at a previous service), and our Certificate of Authenticity.
