HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The Mariner SG was launched in 1982, and the day date model followed in 1984. This watch could be slightly later than that, but it will not be earlier.
CONDITION
Concord are best known in the United States, where their high end brand really challenged some of the bigger names in the 1980’s. Their history goes back to 1908, but there really had an injection of energy and capital when the North American Watch Company bought them in 1970. NAWC were distributors of Piaget and Corum watches, so knew the quality end of the market well. By focusing on high end quartz, they produced some of the most expensive watches on the market. They also made the Delirum, some of the thinnest watches ever made (The Delirum III was just 0.98mm thick, including the case!). The advert we have found show the Delirum costing around $11,000 – about £25,000 in today’s money!
This Mariner SG was a more sensible 5.8mm, still fashionably thin but a little more robust than the Delirum – you can see this 1982 advert on YouTube featuring Joe Montana explaining more. With a bracelet and case made from stainless steel, including highly polished joints, it is certainly well screwed together. The bezel is 18k gold, and the flat glass unmarked. The dial resembles the AP Royal Oak with the raised Petite Tapisserie pattern, and it is very clean. Both day and date line up nicely in their windows at 6. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.

Bracelet will fit a maximum wrist size of 180 mm. We do have a non standard bracelet extender to take that to 196 mm , as shown in the video. The bracelet can be sized for you if you give us your wrist size when placing the order.
