Clearly inspired by a Breitling range of dive watches, this Zeon has the same look for significantly less money. Model reference 1562.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
This watch is very clearly inspired by the Breitling Tarbarly range that was launched in 1983. With the lack of other evidence, and the movement being the right period too, we think this watch is from 1983 or shortly afterwards.
CONDITION
Eric Tarbaly was a French sailor and naval officer, with whom Breitling partnered to make some distinct waterproof watches like this one we have sold previously). Zeon borrowed much of the look of these watches, and saved some money by not paying for celebrity endorsements and were able to offer the watches cheaper than Breitling woul;d be able to. But they didn’t hold back on the specification. The case is stainless steel, the crown screws down and the bezel rotates. The movement is a Swiss made Harley quartz, with five jewels and quick set date. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet does show significant wear to the gold plated centre sections, but it the wear is even and the bracelet a very good length. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The bezel does have scratches to the insert, and the size is small next to modern dive watches but perfectly right for the time when Zeon made this watch. The dial is very nice
