Buttes Watch Company (BWC) was a Swiss firm, not to be confused with British Watch Cases Ltd. This is new old stock (NOS)
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The movement in this watch was first produced in 1976, but given the size and the styling we are estimating this was made circa 1983.
CONDITION
BWC is still making watches today, and you can read about their history here. Only the strap is marked BWC Suisse, and there are no makers marks on the case nor movement, but as this watch is new old stock and the strap is very fitting for the distinctive style of the watch we are happy to make the link. The case is in excellent condition save for one chip near the top left lug – possibly the reason this watch never sold originally? The case size is now considered Unisex, so we have photographed the watch on male and female wrists to help judge the size. The movement is a seventeen jewel FHF 69N, manually wound, which has been tested and is running well. The case back still has the blue protective film on it. Unrepeatable.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
Please see the HD video for more detail. All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned. We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
