This solid gold Marvin Revue may be unworn – it is still on the original leather band and buckle.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
As the case has Swiss hallmarks, which do not have a date code like UK hall marks do, we need to look a little deeper. The movement is by ESA, which was fully absorbed into ETA by 1985 so it has to be earlier than that. Until 1981/1982 quartz movements were still quite chunky, so this slim movement is likely from around that time and the styling suits that period too.
CONDITION
This Marvin Revue is unusual in many ways. The fact the strap is signed, and looks unworn, is very rare. But the material being 9k gold is also unusual for the time – gold had gone through a real boom during the seventies, rising from under £15 an ounce to, by 1982, over £260. This volatile base price is one of the reasons so many cases became gold plated rather than solid gold. The movement is working perfectly, and although there is a little furring to some of the the circuit it is not loose and doing no harm. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. There is some dust on the jet black dial which we will remove before it is sold – it seems to show up on the photos more than real life. The leather strap is signed, with that signed buckle too.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
