HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Longines were founded in 1832, and this 150 model was to celebrate their 150th anniversary – so it was on sale in 1982.
CONDITION
New Old Stock (NOS) watches are rare, and NOS from quality brands like Longines even rarer. This watch still has the sticker on the case back saying to change the battery in 1985! The leather strap is like new, and signed by Longines as is the buckle. Being very picky there is a lighter spot on the strap above 12. The case is PVD coated and immaculate – the stepped shoulders is a hint back to the 1920’s deco style, matching the dial numerals – we have included a photo of this watch next to the advert for a 1927 range, coincidentally called reference 150. The clip on case back looks to have some damage on the corners, but it is not visible when wearing the watch and is likely from someone using the incorrect press tool when replacing the battery. The movement is very thin, as it would need to be, and the calibre 976.2 thirteen jewel movement has a trimmer for the most accurate quartz movements do. It is even finished with Côtes de Genève striping, only normally found on the finest quartz movements. The case size is ideal for 1982 – rectangular, thin, and small by modern standards. This was designed as a men’s watch, but now it would suit a smaller wristed man or a lady. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner.
