This Rotary has the triple gold look at a fraction of the price, due to it being gold plated not solid gold. Model reference 947
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
While Rotary watches are difficult to date, this watch uses a movement also found in other brands such as Eterna and Certina that are easier to date. We have found examples of those brands with the same movement that can be accurately dated to either 1980 or 1982, so circa 1981 is our estimation.
CONDITION
Triple gold is a phrase used to describe a watch with a golden dial, case and bracelet. While this is all gold plate on this Rotary, that does save several thousand pounds while getting the same look. This watch has a Rotary made case and bracelet, marked SD for Sylvain Drefuss, one of Rotary‘s founders. The bark finish is all in good order, and the clasp is very good and that is normally the first place to show wear. The bracelet is a little smaller than when new, so please measure your wrist before ordering as this can not be extended or swapped. The Ellipse case is good, with just a small ding just above the crown. The glass is mainly good but with a few scratches. The dial is very good, and catches the light nicely. The movement is an ETA quartz, with trimmer for fine adjustment, and is working well. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner.
