HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the Baumgartner 866CLD production dates, we estimate that this watch was made in 1980.
CONDITION
The watch is unworn and working perfectly. The world time bezel turns smoothly in both directions and has cities east of Greenwich Mean Time on the outer ring, and cities west in orange closer to the dial. The chromed case is a nice size and shape, and unmarked. Being very critical, there is a small mark on the lume of the minute hand and a tiny dot of dirt on the dial near the lume plot at 7. There seems to have been various companies called Lucerne over the years, and because it is an established watch producing area of Switzerland it is very difficult to research the brand further. But this watch was bought because it looks good and the opportunity to buy a good looking Swiss watch that hasn’t been worn doesn’t come about every day.
