This President Stopwatch is all mechanical and looks like it has never been used.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The President name has been widely used by brands including Rolex, Ebel, Angelus, Alpina, Longines, Bulova and others, making it impossible to research. Just based on the fact that LCD stopwatches started taking over in the 1980’s, we have put this at late 1970’s. But it is only an educated guess in this case.
CONDITION
This was bought on condition rather than it being a perfect watch for a Birth Year. Completely like new, the chromed case is a front loader (the black plastic bezel comes off), and given it is in such good visual condition we have not opened the watch up to even see who made the movement, as we don’t want to risk scratching the case or bezel. Whoever did make the movement should be pleased to know it is still working well. The movement beats at 18,000 beats per hour, or five times a second, so in order to properly be able to measure 1/10th of a second the orange second hand revolves once every 30 seconds – so you do get one beat per one tenth of a second in the dial without increasing the movement speed.
Stopwatches are not expensive currently, and this is an excellent way of adding something different to the collection for not so much money.
