This Heuer Trackmaster stopwatch measures 1/10th of a second, a feat only allowed for by having a thirty second track instead of the standard 60 seconds.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

These stopwatches were in production for quite a long time, and the paperwork for this watch hasn’t been filled out.  But we have found a 1978 Catalogue showing this exact model, number 8042, and we have shown a copy of this on one of the photos.

CONDITION

All Heuer watches are increasing in price rapidly, with one Autavia recently fetching $200,000.  At the recent Phillips Heuer only sale, only two watches sold for under $12,000.  This prices many out of the vintage Heuer market, but the stopwatches remain attainable.

The Heuer Trackmaster was a budget mechanical stopwatch that didn’t sacrifice accuracy.  It is a pin pallet movement that isn’t decided to be serviced, but these stopwatches are used so infrequently that this doesn’t create an issue for most.  The three buttons are colour coded – green for go, red for stop and black for reset, so it is easy to use.  You can time to the tenth of the second, for up to fifteen minutes,  The centre hand makes two revolutions per minute to allow for the 1/10th markers on the outer track.  Also fitted is the original red string.  The lightweight plastic case has just a few signs of use, as does the acrylic crystal, but the red and black dial is very clean.  The box has one corner ripped, and the inner plastic is missing.

This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box, unstamped guarantee papers and our Certificate of Authenticity.
