This Venus automatic watch has a very eye catching dial, and the day date function in English or Turkish.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The movement in this watch was not launched until 1976, so this watch can not be older than that. Quartz and slimmer watches became the trend in the late 1970’s, so this was likely made towards the early production of the movement, circa 1976.
CONDITION
Venus were founded in 1902, and it is best known not for watches but instead for watch movements, particularly chronograph movements. But this Venus watch doesn’t have a Venus movement – it has a 25 jewel ETA 2789-1, which has both quick set day and date. As the day can be set to either Turkish or English, this gives the opportunity for some very childish behaviour on Friday (watch the video!). But it is the dial that captivates – there is as series of squares and rectangles, brush in opposing directions, that bounce the light back in many variations. Happily the dial is also in excellent condition, although the glass does have some marks. The chunky stainless steel case is in good condition, and the screw down case back has helped keep water away form the movement. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
