The rumour is that these Titus Tuning Fork watches were made mainly from Omega parts.  We can see why.  Model number 9307

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

The production of these watches is subject to some mystery, but we think this watch was likely to have been made circa 1976.

CONDITION

The case for Titus using left over Omega stock parts is quite strong.  You can read more about this on this website here.  This watch case almost certainly was intended to be an Omega Seamaster f300 model number 198.001 – see Omega’s website for this model and compare the differences.  A further nail in the coffin is that the acrylic crystal fitted to this watch has the Omega logo in the centre!  The movement is the ESA 9162 in both, but this is not unique to Omega – We have had Longines, IWC, Movado and others with the same high quality movement.  This example is not the copper finish used in Omega, but it has the Cotes de Geneve striping found in IWC models – like the case, the movement has been altered so we can not see where it was originally intended for.  The bracelet is also used on different Omega watches, such as this one we had (the end link codes are different, as the Omega has straight ends and this has curved).

This example is running well, and the quick set date is working perfectly – that can be a weak spot on these otherwise very strong movements.  The blue dial is nice, but the tritium lume has reacted with the dial around the hour markers.  The stainless steel case is unpolished and crisp, and the bracelet hardly looks worn at all – the clasp is the first place to show marks and it is very good.  The slightly uneven finish to the crown may be that they polished off the Omega logo there too.  A new battery will be fitted prior to the watch being sent to the lucky new owner.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
