This Stellaris Transistorized watch would have been sold by Sears-Roebuck stores in the USA, and is one of three we have acquired.  The other two have now sold to the same buyer – he bought one, and then came back and bought another he was that happy with the first!

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

The ESA 9157 electronic movement was one of the last electronic watch movements released, and that was in 1975.  Because it was quite short lived (quartz movements were cheaper to make) we can say that this watch was made circa 1975.

CONDITION

Mechanically the watch is in great condition.  Cosmetically, well the case has issues that are clear to see in the photos and the video.  The three watches were bought as unsold stock, but all three have marks, scratches and dents on the cases.

This brown dialed version has several scratches on the chromed case, particularly at 7.  The dial has a shadow of the hands, caused by the hands staying in that position for years, pointing towards 8. We have fitted a complimentary brown leather strap.  As well as being horologically interesting, these are quite a chunky watch and with a transistor switched balance wheel they have the convenience of quartz but with a sweeping seconds hand.
