A watch that we have never seen before, but we couldn’t resist buying this Rambler based on the condition and distinctive design.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

We can not find any information on this brand at all, but the Baumgartner 866CLDD 21 jewel movement was in production in the mid seventies.  Combined with the chunky styling we are having a best guess at 1975, but with no guarantees.

CONDITION

The watch is in NOS (New Old Stock) condition, with just the tiniest of tool marks on the case back to indicate it isn’t brand new.  The back is stainless steel, and is a bayonet fitting  rather than fully screwed down.  This isn’t a watch of the highest quality, but the 21 jewel movement is working well and the day date is easy enough to set by the semi quickset method.  The case is unmarked, and the quality of the chrome is very good.  The barrel shaped acrylic crystal had a few light scratches from storage, which we have polished out.  The chocolate brown dial has been complimented with a similar colour strap, and this has real presence on the wrist.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any images, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
