A rare Nivada Safari watch that appears to be completely unworn.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Well look at it – it couldn’t be more mid seventies if it was wearing polyester whilst listening to the Bee Gees! But we have also found that the movement had a production date range of 1971 – 1980, so circa 1975 seems right.
Rare is a much overused term when it comes to vintage watches. We try and refrain from using the word unless we can justify it. With this watch we have searched Google images, instagram, eBay, Chrono24 and our extensive library and we cannot find a single image of a watch the same as this. So it is rare.
There are some scratches on the original bracelet that are light and look to have been caused during storage. The watch does not appear to have been worn – the case back sticker is still in place, the bracelet is completely clean, and there are no other signs of the watch having been used. We have tested the glass and it appears to be sapphire crystal. The ETA 2657 7.75 ligne movement is running nicely at 21,600 bph and has a quick set date function. The bracelet can be adjusted without the need for special tools, or this watch could be worn with a leather strap.
This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
