Anton Ziegler was a successful watch designer, most associated with Junghans. This is a chronograph from his eponymous brand.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
There is very little reference material for Ziegler watches, as there are so few out there. But the movement was made between 1969 and 1978, so we have picked a mid point year that also suits the styling.
CONDITION
This watch has overtones of the Heuer Silverstone, with the squared off dial and fume colouring, but then the comparison stops. This has a C Case that would usually be found with a round dial, like the Omega Constellation where it got it’s name. The off centre white subdials have constant seconds on the left, and a 30 minute counter near 3 with an orange hand. This matches the orange tipped centre chronograph hand, which is also lumed. The movement powering this is a Valjoux 7734, which also has a semi quick set date. The chromed case is in great condition, as is the rest of the watch. The current strap is a lightly used Hirsch Rally, which is good quality but the strap has rubbed the case. We can swap this for a standard strap, but this is better than anything we normally fit. We have never seen another Ziegler watch in the flesh, so once this sells it is extremely unlikely you will find another in anything like this condition.
