This mechanical alarm watch from Sorna has 1970’s cool designed into it. Model reference 1290

We do not have a direct reference to place this watch at 1974, but it fits the styling, movement production dates and we can not find it in earlier Sorna resources we have. It also has the later Sorna logo that was only launched in 1973, so it must post date that. If you have any information that can help here please do contact us.

This watch came to us on what we believe was the original strap – it was quite distinctive but it was also tatty and unsafe to use. However the fact that this watch may have lasted 45 year son the same strap tells us that it wasn’t used a lot. We have now fitted a new leather strap of a similar design. The gold plated case is showing wear on the edges, but not bad wear. The dial is clean and the orange alarm hand is a nice design feature. The movement is a manual wind 1223-21 calibre with 17 jewels, but these jewels do not include the pallets – this is a pin pallet movement. The hands are set and wound by the crown at 2, and the alarm is wound and set by the crown at 4, and you can see and hear it in action on the video.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
