This woven gilt (gold plated silver) ladies bracelet watch from Longines has a quality manual wind movement. Model reference 1138-817
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From a combination of the styling, materials and movement serial number we think this watch was made circa 1973. Much later and it would have likely to have had a quartz movement.
CONDITION
This watch is in very nice condition. The gold textured dial is difficult to find fault with, as is the glass. The original sticker is still on the case back, which is usually a sign the watch wasn’t worn often. The movement is Longines calibre 817.4, a seventeen jewel hand wound movement that is nicely finished and is working well. The case has a rope edge bezel, and looks very good. Both case and bracelet are made from 0.500 silver, which has then been gold plated. Gold prices were climbing very quickly in the 1970’s, so this choice of gilt material still allowed a precious metal to be used. The bracelet is quite short so please double check your wrist size before ordering, as extending the bracelet is not realistically possible and you could not swap the bracelet for a leather strap either.
