This is a proper jump hour watch from Eurastyle – beware cheaper models that you might regret.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

With no serial numbers to base from, we have discovered that the movement used in this watch was first introduced in 1970, and the company Eurastyle was operating in the 1970’s.  It is not a lot to go on, but we think the watch was made circa 1973 based on this and the amount of new jump hour watches launched at the 1973 Basel Watch Fair.

CONDITION

There is a difference between jump hour and digital watches.  Digital watches are the ones that look very similar to jump hours (before LCD and LED digital watches), but the hour doesn’t jump – it drags round and means you can’t read the time easily if it is half past an hour.  This Eurastyle is a real jump hour, where the hour flicks over after sixty minutes and stays displayed almost the entire hour.  To do this Eurastyle used a decent movement – a manual wind AS 1900, with 17 jewels.   It is running well, and has been protected by a screw down case back.  The gold plated case is very good and showed signs of not being worn much – the plating has some patina (but not wear), and the strap may have been the original (but it was too fragile to save.)  Overall this is a good example of a very 1970’s watch.  The strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
