HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The ETA 2789 25 jewel automatic movement was made between 1969 and 1976, so we have picked a mid point that also matches the fashion of the time. No more solid dating evidence is currently available.
CONDITION
Election were a Swiss company, founded in 1915. The solid stainless steel case has taken remarkably few knocks over the years, which is unusual given the size. We have replaced the acrylic glass and case seal. The quick set date does work, but the quick set day doesn’t work – it does turn over at midnight okay, but not on the quick set. This is the only watch we have seen with the day wheel in Dutch. The red ring around the edge of the quartered dial is a nice stylistic touch. The dial has just a small mark over the N of Election.
We have struggled to find a comparable watch to check our prices on. Given the style and ETA movement we have priced this at the cheaper end of what we consider it to be worth.
