The automatic Technos Technabird is a striking design using good components.  Model reference 1407.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

There is no database of Technos models that we are aware of, but the movement was in production from 1970 and we have found an image of the same model which was engraved as a presentation watch in 1974, so circa 1972 feels correct.

CONDITION

The Technos name was registered in 1924, and ran as an independent company until 1977 when they joined Edox and later Certina.  All of these companies were struggling during what is now called the quartz crisis, so they had some safety in numbers.  Before this they made some excellent watches, and some fetch thousands now.  The Technabird is not a well documented model, partly due to scarcity.  The case is in two pieces and the movement comes out via the front.  That movement is an ETA 25 jewel automatic, calibre 2630, signed for Technos.  It has a day wheel in English and a quick set date, which is working correctly as the rest of the watch is.  The case has a few small marks but is overall very good for circa 50 years old.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon.  By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
