A slightly unusual ladies Longines cocktail watch, with TV case and oval crystal. Model reference 1038-1.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement, combined with the production dates of the movement, we estimate this watch was made circa 1972.
CONDITION
The case is 20 micron gold plated, and has stood up very well. With small ladies watches cases always look better in the real world rather than the enlarged photos too. The bracelet is by Speidel and is 10k gold filled – this is a minimum of 5% gold and thicker than plate, which explains why it still looks good. The movement is Longines 17 jewel, manual wind calibre 5601 (based on calibre 420) and all is working well. The dial has minor marks, difficult to see with the naked eye, and the crown is the orignal signed item. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath, and could be swapped for a leather strap if preferred.
