A typically high quality watch from Corum – one of the most under rated brands in horology.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Corum watches are difficult to date, but the movement used in this example was first launched in 1972, which also fits the design of the watch too. It could be newer, but can not be older than 1972.
CONDITION
Rene Bannwart spent years at Patek Philippe and Omega before joining his uncles small watch making workshop, and in 1956 their own brand Corum was launched, From such humble beginnings they have gone on to make several instantly recognisible models, from the Buckingham, the Golden Bridge, the Admiral’s Cup and the Bubble. Some of these are quite outlandish designs, but the watch we have here is far more classical. The dial has some light patterning to it, and when you look closely it is the Corum key logo. Inside the case is a nicely finished Peseux 7001 thin manual wind movement in top 21 jewel guise, which was adjusted to three positions. The fact that no one would see it except a watchmaker didn’t stop Corum taking the time and cost to improve it where possible. The cabochon polished stone set in the crown is very typical of the time. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case and movement.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
