HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
We have another Mirexal Superautomatic, from c1970, but the movement used in this model didn’t come out until 1971. Given that the quartz crisis hit the quality of watch movements as the 1970’s progressed, it is logical that this watch was made close to 1971.
CONDITION
The condition is excellent. The leather strap is the original, signed item, so we can pretty much guarantee this has rarely, if ever, been worn. The Mirexal movement is the in house brand for a Swiss chain of supermarkets, and if you are going to sell watches the knowledgeable Swiss you need to offer them something good. So this has a 25 jewel ETA automatic movement, with quick set day and date calendar. The day wheel is in German. This is good specification for a men’s watch, but very good for a ladies watch that are sometimes simpler due to the limited case sizes. The watch is also shock and water resistant (when new), and antimagnetic, so they really didn’t hold anything back.
