This Rado Chambord is in new old stock condition, and still has the sticker on the caseback.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Rado have been making watches since 1929, and they are not easy to date. The Chambord sub brand isn’t a registered trade mark so that doesn’t help us. The ETA movement had a long production life of between 1959-1975. Given the styling we have said this watch was made circa 1970, but we do accept that this is a best guess.
CONDITION
Rado watches are some of the most faked on the planet, the the faked ones tend to be the 1980s glass or ceramic models. The material must be easier to use and the quartz movements were easily obtainable and cheap. However, we are 100% certain that this example is original, as every detail smacks of quality control over cheap fakes. It is details such as the signed crown, clasp, deeply engraved caseback on the outside and inside and the movement bridge is also signed. Each of these marks is done well to a high standard.
The watch is in great condition and appears to have never been worn. There are no scuffs on the clasp, the 10 micron gold plating is perfect and the caseback still has the sticker in place. Being very picky the glass has a small nibble between 1 and 2 and another near 8, and this might be the reason this was never sold? We can never be sure. The seventeen jewel ETA 2512 movement is running nicely, and the dial is crisp and clean. What’s more, at time of press this watch is cheaper than any of the 600+ ladies Rado watches on Chrono24.
This watch will be supplied with a presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
