A vintage Fero Feldman watch, with a modified case and fantastic lapis blue dial, has a 23 jewel manual wind movement with calendar.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Production of the EB8081-68 movement began in 1968, and we think this watch dates from circa 1970.
CONDITION
This watch arrived with us in part exchange in a sorry state. The crystal was cracked, the expanding strap filthy dirty and the case plating worn badly. We nearly threw the watch in the spares box, but the dial caught our attention.
So we stripped the watch down and found the movement is running perfectly. The dial is great, very clean with all the lume plots in place. The hands have matching lume, although the very tip of the hour hand has lost the last 1 mm of lume. We stripped the case bare and brushed it on the scotch bright wheel, not to remove all the plating but to even out what was left and leave this matt finish. Once cleaned, we rebuilt everything, replacing the cracked crystal and added a used but funky salmon skin strap with blue stitching to compliment the dial.
This will not appeal to the purists, but the collectors will love the uniqueness of what we have done, plus we have saved a watch from being scrapped.
