HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
While we can not date Enicar watches with total accuracy, we know the Ocean Pearl name was registered in 1962, and the movement used in this watch was introduced in 1970. The same model reference reference appears in the excellent Time for a Change book about vintage Enicar watches by Martijn van der Ven on page 247.
CONDITION
With this Ocean Pearl, you can get a Swiss made vintage watch in very original condition, complete with an automatic in house movement, for far less than you might expect. While the Enicar chronographs and divers watches can fetch thousands, the Ocean Pearl and Ocean star watches are still affordable. This one has the faceted crystal – faceted on the inside – which is a little quirky. You also get a faded blue dial, day and date display (with the quick set date still working), and powering the hands is an automatic AR 167C movement which is working well. Maybe the crown has been replaced – we don’t know for sure on that. The bracelet is original and signed on the clasp, and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The stainless steel case is large for the period and unpolished.
