Fitted with the MSR Exactomatic movement, this men’s Waltham also has a unibloc steel case and the original box.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
At this period in time Waltham were not using serial numbers on their movements, as the movements were being made for them rather than being made themselves. This watch uses a movement that was first introduced in 1968, and given the race to make cheaper movements that happened through the 1970’s we think this watch was made circa 1969.
CONDITION
Waltham are more associated with pocket watches than wrist watches, but after they closed their factory in Chicago they started getting their wristwatches made in Switzerland. They still had the designs and specification controls, so on this watch you find a Unibloc case in stainless steel more commonly associated with watches like the Omega Cosmic. The one piece case helps protect the movement from both water and people prodding at the movement without the skills or tools to be qualified to do so! The crystal is a new tension ring acrylic type to keep dust and water out as much as possible. The movement used is a 22 jewel automatic that is badged a Waltham HT 101, but is actually an MSR T56. This calibre was developed and used by Revue-Thommen and Vulcain, who called it the Exatomatic, and it is quite rare to find it in anything outside of those two brands. It has thicker than average plates, a ball bearing mounted oscillating weight and micro adjustment on the balance regulator. You can also semi quick set the date by winding the hands past midnight, back to 19.20 and then back past midnight again. You also still have the original signed bracelet and crown fitted. The outer rim of the dial does have some scratches on it, but the dial in general is original and good. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box, and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
