A nice and clean Bentima Star watch, fitted with a manual wind 21 jewel movement.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

Our research has found two 9k Bentima gold watches, with the same dial and movement, both hallmarked for 1969.  While we can not be 100% sure this is the same vintage, it is likely to also date from 1969.

CONDITION

The Bentima brand was owned by Oris, but seems to have been a level above their usual range.  We say this because the movements used, in this case an AS 1525/1526, is of higher quality than the movements Oris used in their ranges at the time.  Oris also used Siro branding on their cheapest watches, so having a good, better and best range is nothing new.

The dial on this is nice, and has strong hour markers that are bevel cut to shimmer in the light.  The lugs are slightly turned in, like on some Omega Speedmasters.  There is some wear to the gold plating on the high points, as would be expected, but in real life and away from magnification the appearance isn’t any where near as bad as the enlarged photos would suggest.  We have fitted a new leather strap with matching gold tone buckle, so this inexpensive Swiss watch is ready to enjoy.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
