Fitted with a quality manual wind Peseux movement, this Nivor ellipse cased watch has the look too.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

With no database of Nivor watches available, we have had to look at different factors.  Nivor were formed in 1953.  The movement used in this watch was first launched in 1968, and 1968 was also the launch date for the Patek Philippe Golden ellipse, which influenced watch fashion to make similar (more affordable) ellipse cased watches.  This Nivor would likely to have been made either in 1968, or shortly after.

CONDITION

This Nivor watch has had a very gentle life.  The case back stickers are still there, and a hangtag came with the watch with a price of 207,000 (but no sign of what currency that was.)  The case is all in good shape and that brown or fume fade dial is very good.  The 17 jewel Peseux movement is their calibre 7046, which is a pleasure to wind and the calendar has semi quick set date (past midnight, back to 20:00, and past midnight to advance by one date).  All is working well.  The leather strap is new, and the buckle is not signed.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box, the hang tag and our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon.  By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
