This gold capped Movado President watch in a Dynamic style François Borgel case has a beautiful automatic movement fitted.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Strangely this model barely appears anywhere, not even in the official Movado book. But we know the movement was in production between 1966 and 1970, so we have picked the mid year.
CONDITION
François Borgel cased some of the best watches in the world. You can see the FB over a key mark in the back of the case, and when you know that François Borgel pioneered the first screw back watch cases, the vacuum cases found in Mido watches and made watches for Vacheron Constantin and Patek Philippe you know you are getting quality. This is a steel case topped with a thick layer of gold, and the elliptical style is reminiscent of the Omega Dynamic (which was launched in 1969). The dial is original and good despite a dent near 10, and the crown is the original signed one too. The 28 jewel in house calibre 383 automatic movement is a fine thing, and the fact that it is a front loaded case (making it harder for those without the knowledge and tools to access) does also mean it has remained very clean. The dial is likewise very good, although the reflective nature of the dial does make photography difficult – the video is a more representative view. The crystal is the original, signed on the centre. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
