This Cauny is an attractive watch with lots of style, with a datejust style fluted bezel.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
With a lack of serial numbers we have to use other methods. The movement dates to circa 1970, but not precisely. We know that Cauny temporarily stopped business in 1969 until the mid seventies, and when they relaunched they had a stylised Fleur-de-lys. As this watch has the earlier fluer-de-lys logo on the caseback, and a movement circa 1970, it must have been made towards the end of the 1960’s.
CONDITION
The watch is wearable without being a safe queen. With any gold plated case the edges are susceptible to wear, and this is no different. However, you have a new acrylic crystal, and a new signed crown, and a lightly worn Condor leather strap fitted. We have manually cleaned the case and the bezel to really show the highlights that this type of bezel shows. The FHF 96-4 17 jewel movement is running nicely and has a semi quickset date (adjusted between 21:00 and 24hr, as shown in this video.) The explorer style dial is very clean, and the orange second hand is a great detail.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
