A model we have never seen before, this Swiss made Elgin Tressa is one of their later watches before the brand was sold.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The Tressa name was registered in 1966, which was exactly the same year when Elgin demolished their original factory in Elgin, Illionois. They switched production mainly to Switzerland around this time, and this is a Swiss made watch. The movement is also dated to circa 1965, so we must be right around the right point in history.
CONDITION
The manual wind movement is the FHF 96, which is a simple 17 jewel workhorse movement and this is working fine. The dial has nice touches of gold flashing across it, with both the applied markers and the Elgin logo (the Tressa logo is printed in white). If you see what looks like the € symbol on any Elgin watch then it is a sure sign it is a watch that wasn’t made in the USA. The C shaped case is all stainless steel, with screw down case back and was originally water resistant (but never get any vintage watch wet). The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
