Not technically a coin watch, but this was the look Vulcain were going for in this distinctive piece. Model reference 1182.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Vulcain have been making watches since 1858, and are best know for their Cricket alarm watches. Looking at the production dates for the movement used in this watch, we estimate this was made circa 1965.
CONDITION
Helvetia is the symbol of Switzerland in the same way that Britannia is in the UK. The images features on the reverse of many Swiss coins, and this watch is designed to look like the coin. The design has stars for each hour marker, and the light bounces off the engraved image in a variety of ways. Inside the gold plated case is a manual wind movement, signed for Vulcain, but is actually a FHF 81 that Vulcain would have specified. The watch is in very good condition and is nice and slim too. The stone set into the crown is not chipped or cracked either. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
