Girard-Perregaux have been making watches since 1791, and are very highly regarded (and expensive new too.) This Damier model, with it distinctive chequered dial, is great value.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Sadly Girard-Perregaux do not publish the serial number dates for their watches, but we have found an advert from 1965 featuring the Damier range.
CONDITION
The case is gold filled, a method that is much thicker than gold plating. However the corners of the case are showing signs of wear, but this is difficult to see with the naked eye. The dial is very good, and the dial is the unique selling point of the Damier range. There is one small mark near the centre of the dial, but this is very difficult to see with the naked eye. The video will be the best way to experience the way that the dial changes colour across the 16 squares. The movement is a 17 jewel Girard-Perregaux manual wind item that is working well, and the strap will be replaced for a new 11mm one as shown in the video (shown in the photos with a trimmed down 12mm version).
This watch will be supplied with a presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
Please see the HD video for more detail. All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned. We do not photoshop any images, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
