The Damier model was a very distinct model from a very well respect manufacturer. This is model reference 7427
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Girard-Perregaux have been watchmakers since 1791, but sadly there is not a complete record of exactly when their individual watches were made. However, we can date this watch to being available in 1965 from an advert released that year.
CONDITION
The chequered dial on the Damier model is their key feature, but sadly is also the part that normally shows the most wear. This one isn’t too bad, with just a few spots and marks but nothing seriously distracting. The slim case is in great shape and has semi drilled lugs to help make strap changes easier. (semi drilled lugs have one side drilled right though, and the other side blind – you can not see the drilled lugs from the crown side on this watch. We have taken some photos with a black strap and then swapped this for the brown strap shown, as it is closer to the original colourway shown in the advert. The original signed crown is still fitted, and winds the 17 jewel Girard Perregaux 26.29 calibre sweetly. The movement is based on the AS1525, but with an improved beat of 21,600 bph. The watch wears larger than the dimensions suggest, as squared watch cases always do.
This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
