A clean looking watch, the Cauny Calendario is an inexpensive vintage Swiss watch without too many compromises.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Using the production dates of the movement we think this watch was made circa 1965, which also fits the styling. This is not ideal, but sometime we buy watches that are difficult to date just because we like them.
CONDITION
Cauny were first registered in the heart of Swiss watchmaking, La Chaux-de-Fonds, in 1940. This gold plated case houses a very balanced dial with some nice touches – see how the numerals at 12 are not quite even, or the rifle sight minimalist sub second dial. The watch is fitted with a FHF 81-2 movement, complete with sub second and a semi quick set date (hence the name Calendario, Spanish for Calendar). This is working nicely, and has been branded Cauny Prima. One really nice feature is the date wheel being in red, really emphasising the feature. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
