Le Cheminant have made some fine watches, and this 41 jewel Master Mariner is another example of this.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Le Cheminant watches are a favourite of ours, but not easy to date. However, we have had another 41 jewel Master Mariner before and that was inscribed for 1961. We have no evidence to suggest this watch was not made about the same time.
The screw back case is all stainless steel, which is always a sign of quality. The case is a decent size for the period, and has thick, beveled lugs. The dial is a golden cream colour, and does have a few age spots on it, but still looks good with the dagger hands. The calendar can be quick set via the 12-9-12 method. The AS1701 movement is a nice thing, but as most only 30 of the jewels are actually functional and some are definitely for show or bragging rights! We have fitted a lightly worn tan strap that we think compliments the watch colours, but if you wanted a different colour we can change this for you. We have also fitted a new acrylic crystal and case back seal, so the watch i ready to wear.
This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
