A rarely seen Rado Green Horse watch with a mechanical alarm complication built into it. Model reference 117.90.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
There isn’t, to the best of our knowledge, an easy way to date Rado watches so we have to work a little harder. The movement used in this watch was launched in 1954 and then superseded in 1970. Rado however launched the Green Horse range in 1958, so it is likely that this watch was made circa 1960.
CONDITION
The Green Horse were the first Rado watches to be advertised as water proof. The case uses a ring on the back that only turns about 30 degrees to lock down, which is unusual. The movement is the AS1568, a 17 jewel movement with separate alarm barrel that all works of the crown at two. The crown at 4 sets the time, winds the main watch up and also sets the semi quick set date. The dial does have a couple of marks, and the Rado anchor logo doesn’t turn – this is correct, as the turning logo was only fitted to Rado’s automatic watches. The green leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and both crowns.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
