This Osco men’s watch has a fabulous green dial and proves you don’t need to spend a fortune to have an interesting watch.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the production dates of the movement we can estimate this watch to being made circa 1960.
CONDITION
Nope – we had never heard of Osco either. They were based in Schwenningen, Germany, near the border with Switzerland – the town is only 45 minutes from Schaffhausen, home to IWC. But in this instance, and at this price point, we are more interested in the watch than the back story. The thing that first attracted us to the watch is the green fade dial, which is both highly legible and original and clean. The case is only chrome plated, and you can see some marks of wear on the case. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred. The movement fitted to this Osco watch is a Swiss FE233-60, fully jeweled and not a pin pallet like so many cheaper watches. The stainless steel case back does have a personal engraving, but George Rew doesn’t sound Germanic so maybe this was made for export?
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
