A nice clean Oris gentleman’s watch with classical styling and manual wind movement.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
You can not date Oris watches from this period accurately without the papers, which we don’t have for this watch. However we can check the production dates of the movement and the slight differences in logo designs and say this watch was made circa 1960.
The cheapest men’s new Oris is the Classic gold plated watch at £950, but it never used to be so. Oris were a working men’s watch, and are rare in marketing terms of successfully working their way up the price range, so if you see an Oris watch at £2,000 it is not a shock. Back in the 1960’s Oris were one of the cheaper Swiss brands, but that doesn’t stop them being desirable. The case is stamped OWC for Oris Watch Company, and is 10 micron gold plated and in good shape but with some typical wear to the tips of the lugs and around the winding crown. The crown is almost completely recessed into the case, helping the aesthetics and protecting the crown from knocks. Inside is a Oris calibre 652KIF, with KIF being the type of the shock protection on the balance. This movement is a pin pallet, rather than jeweled lever, but it is keeping time well enough. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
