This Nivada Compensamatic has a quality manual wind movement in a stylish case.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

The Compensamatic trademark was registered in October 1952, but the movement in this watch was later.  The styling and materials used suit 1960, and as that fits the known dates that is the best we can do on this watch.  If you know more please do contact us.

CONDITION

Nivada have been making watches in Grechen, Switzerland for nearly 100 years.  If you search sites like Chrono24 for the brand you will find dozens of them over £1,000, but these are nearly always the divers or chronograph sports watches.  The watch we have here is simpler.  The case is chromed rather than stainless steel, and the bezel and case have lost a lot of that chrome over the years.  But inside the case is a 17 jewel Peseux 330 movement, and Peseux movements are widely regarded as the better end of the movement supply chain.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred – we deliberately chose a provocative colour, as silver coloured cases/dial/hands can work with any colour strap.  The plexiglass low dome crystal has a few small marks.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
