J W Benson were one of the best watchmakers and jewellers in London, and supplied royalty from across the world.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the production dates of the movement we think this watch was made circa 1960.

CONDITION

Since 1749 to 1972, when the name was absorbed into another prestigious London jewellers Garrard, J W Benson was a place to buy quality from.  That said, this is not their finest offering but neither is this the most expensive either.  What lets this down is the chrome plated case, which has some pitting on the back.  There is also an engraving on the rear of the case, possibly for for a service.  But inside is a nice ETA 2391 manual wind seventeen jewel movement that is working well, and the dial is clean too.  The blued hands are straight and tarnish free too.  The only strange thing is the dial is marked SWISS MADE T, with the T standing for tritium lume, but this watch dial and hands are not lumed.  The crown is worn, but fully functional, the acrylic crystal has been polished and the leather strap is new.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
