A men’s mechanical watch from Gordon. This is a brand we can not find out much about, but when it looks this good we had to buy it!
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The truth is in this case we can’t date this watch accurately at all. We can’t identify the hand wound movement, and the record of Gordon we can find is that they were founded in 1907. The c1960 date is purely from the styling, but if you can help then please contact us.
CONDITION
This watch is better than the sum of its parts. The applied numerals on the silvered dial match the dauphine hour and minute hands, and the quartered sub second dial has circular grooves. Even the lugs have facets cut into the outer edges. The first impression is this is a plain watch, but the more you see it the more you see. The crown looks a later replacement and stands about 1mm proud of the case. There is a small dirt spot near the centre of the dial that can be seen in some lights. We have fitted a new leather strap and replaced the acrylic crystal, so it is ready to be enjoyed
