Clearly inspired by the Rolex Oyster models with the thunderbird bezel, this Swiss made Services is a far cheaper alternative.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the logo on the dial, with was used to the late fifties, we can date this watch to being made circa 1959.
CONDITION
The case size, ‘thunderbird’ bezel, hour indicators and design clearly resemble the far superior Rolex model from the same decade – this model even has the all red date calendar. The 17 jewel hand winding movement is working well, but the watch does have cosmetic issues. The case and bezel have noticeable plate loss. The hour hand has lost all it’s lume. The bezel has a large ding near 1. The dial has multiple marks. But this watch will suit those either on a budget, looking for a black dial vintage watch (much harder to find) or if anyone likes the idea of a vintage watch, but wants to try the size first for a month before spending the thousands a Rolex would cost. The crystal is good, and we have fitted a new Next padded leather strap and chrome buckle.
